As you might expect from its designation as a photo AIO, you can install either the black and tricolor cartridge that it ships with for four-color printing using cyan, yellow, magenta, and black, or replace the black with a photo cartridge for six-color printing, adding light cyan and light magenta for better-looking photos. The setup is standard for AIOs that connect by USB 2.0, with a fully automated installation program. Consider it appropriate for a home or for light-duty use in a home office.Īt 11.4 by 17.2 by 17.5 inches (HWD), the 924 is small enough to share a desk with or keep handy on a nearby flat surface. But the only real extra the 924 offers is the ability to print directly from a PictBridge camera, which helps give it a claim to being a photo AIO. Unlike some AIOs, the 924 can scan to any fax program that uses a modem in your PC. However, the 924 is an all-in-one (AIO), and as such it's limited-as you would expect at this price-with no automatic document feeder (ADF) or fax modem. If the Dell Photo All-In-One Printer 924 ($89 direct) were strictly a printer, we'd consider it a good choice, with an appropriate combination of speed and output quality for the price.
